The most common questions about second-opinion advisory, security, pricing, and process.
An independent, expert review of a complex medical case — written by a credentialed specialist (or panel) and delivered to your treating physician. Novocare advisories are designed to support clinical decisions, not replace your doctor.
Board-certified specialists from academic and tertiary centers across North America, Europe, and Asia. Every advisory names the reviewer and their credentials. For complex cases we convene multi-specialty boards.
Most cases are completed within 5–10 business days from when records are received. Comprehensive tier has a priority 5-business-day SLA. Urgent reviews (under 72 hours) are available on request for time-sensitive treatment decisions.
Standard Review is $350. Comprehensive Review (most chosen) is $900 and includes imaging re-review and a physician-to-physician call. Tumor Board / multi-specialty review starts at $1,499. All tiers are HSA/FSA eligible. See pricing for details.
Typically: recent labs (PDF), imaging (DICOM preferred, but JPG/PNG accepted), pathology reports if relevant, and a brief clinical history. Your case coordinator will tell you within 24 hours if anything is missing — you'll never have to guess.
All uploads are encrypted end-to-end with AES-256, in transit and at rest. We are HIPAA-aligned and operate under BAAs with our reviewers. No PHI ever travels via email. You can revoke access or delete your case from the portal at any time, and we maintain an audit log of every view and download.
We strongly recommend it — the advisory is written for your physician and works best when delivered into your care plan. That said, patient-direct reviews are available; we'll include a plain-language patient summary alongside the clinical report.
No. Novocare is an advisory service — we provide expert review and recommendations, but prescriptions and orders are made by your treating physician within their licensed jurisdiction.
